Alpha Bus has many years’ experience working with schools across London and the South East of England and are delighted to offer a unique resource combining learning with travel on a classic London bus.
A visit from one of our historic buses is ideal for teaching on the subjects of History of Transport or Local History (Key Stage 1 or 2). Or why not travel to a Prom or enjoy a Leavers Day Out in style on board a classic London bus.
History of Transport – Key Stage 1 or 2​
Our classic 1960’s London Routemaster will visit your school. Pupils inspect the bus from the outside to spot the differences between our old bus and a modern vehicle. They can even look under the bonnet to see the giant engine.
Then they queue at our bus stop before climbing on board where the interior becomes a classroom and our friendly uniformed bus crew teach about the history of buses and bus travel using large pictures and many genuine artefacts. Then it is off for a ride (optional) of the local area. Our bus conductor will collect the fares (old pennies) and issue every passenger with a ticket from an old-fashioned ticket machine. Play a game of Transport I-Spy and enjoy a sing-a-long on the way back.
Local History – Key Stage 1 or 2​
If you are traveling to a local site of historic interest or want a bespoke tour of the history of your local area why not do so in style by traveling on a piece of local history – an old London bus!
We can discuss the day beforehand and tailor make your journey to your exact requirements.
Sightseeing Tour of London - Starting and Finishing at Your School​
A sightseeing tour of London on board one of our heritage buses. The bus will collect and return you from your school premises. Each Tour can be tailored to suit particular themes or sights that the school wishes to focus on. A lunch break will be provided at an agreed location. Our conductor will act as guide and provide relevant fun and educational activities whilst on route.

Sightseeing Tour of London - Starting from Central London​
If you would prefer to travel into London by train, we can arrange to meet you at any central London Station and start your London Tour from there.

Many Greater London Schools frequently make use of service buses for short trips. Like all service buses our vehicles are not equipped with seat belts

With the exception of bottled water we do not allow food or drink to be consumed on our buses

Due to their age and configuration our buses are not suitable for wheelchair access
