Routemaster RML 2700
Max Capacity - 72 

Delivered new in September 1967 RML 2700 faithfully transported London passengers for 34 years operating from garages in Hanwell, Stamford Hill and Shepherds Bus.  During this time it received regular overhauls at London Transports famous Aldenham Works.  In 1993 it underwent another major refurbishment to enable it to continue serving London for a further 18 years, way past its original life expectancy.  This included an updated interior and a new Cummins engine to replace its original AEC unit.

 

In 2003 it was purchased for preservation before passing to Alpha Bus in August 2011 and was repainted in 2022.

Routemaster RM 2106
Max Capacity - 64 

Delivered new to Aldenham in December 1964 RM 2106 operated in London for an incredible 47 years from garages in Bow, Camberwell, New Cross & Putney.  It received upgrades to its interior in 1995 and 2000 whilst in 1997 it received a new Scania engine to replace its original AEC unit.

 

In May 2003 RM 2106 started a new life in Devon, first in preservation and then with The Big Red Bus Co.  Alpha Bus purchased the bus in July 2009 and returned it to the London area where it still provides passengers with a nostalgic reminder of the best of British engineering.

Routemaster RML 2674
Max Capacity - 72

RML2674 was delivered new in May 1967 and survived in London service until 2004 operating from garages in Hanwell, Tottenham and Brixton.  During this time, it received regular overhauls at London Transport’s famous Aldenham Works.  In 1993 it underwent another major refurbishment to enable it to continue serving London for a further 11 years, way past its original life expectancy.  This included an updated interior and a new Cummins engine.

 

RML2674 had several private owners before being acquired by A Route 2 Hire in 2013.  During 2020 the bus underwent a refurbishment of its interior to return it to its original 1960’s specification.  In 2021 the bus was incorporated into the fleet of Alpha Bus Co along with the operations of A Route 2 Hire.

A 1953 example of London's popular RF single deck bus. It survived in service right up until 1979.

Our bus went on to have a varied history after leaving London.  First it moved to Gosport before spending five years in Guernsey.  In 1985 it was purchased by Shaftesbury & District PSV who refurbished it.  It saw further service in Winchester and with Classic Buses, High Wycombe.  It was purchased by dealer Mike Nash who painted it gold in 2002 to commemorate not only the queen’s golden jubilee but also that of the RF bus.

 

In 2004 it was bought for preservation and moved to Norfolk before being acquired by Alpha Bus in 2011.
